Two injured Thursday in serious crash that shut down Route 6
Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred Thursday evening.
According to Swansea Police, at approximately 8:30, officers from the Swansea Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 1732 G.A.R Highway.
Upon arrival, officers found two heavily damaged motor vehicles with both operators entrapped. The Swansea Fire Department and Swansea Ambulance responded and both operators were subsequently extricated and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The operators were identified as Patricia Loureiro, 28 of East Providence RI and Robert Woodworth, 69 of Swansea.
Route 6 was closed for several hours between Milton Reiser way and Old Fall River road due to the crash.
The Swansea Police Department Accident Reconstruction team, Swansea Police Detective Division and Patrolman Zachary Sousa are investigating the crash.
