North Dartmouth woman killed in Freetown crash
A crash on Route 140 in Freetown this morning resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher Meleo indicates that at about 8:10 a.m., an 18-year-old woman from North Dartmouth was traveling on Route 140 Northbound in the area of Exit 8 in Freetown in a 2003 Ford Escape. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled into the median and then rolled over and crashed on Route 140 Southbound, coming to rest in the breakdown lane. The operator and sole occupant, who was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
This crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
State Police were assisted on scene by Freetown Fire and EMS, Freetown Police, and MassDOT.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
