Michelle Carter denied parole by board
Michelle Carter will remain behind bars.
Carter is serving her 1st commitment for involuntary manslaughter.
According to the parole board, the board is troubled that Carter not only encouraged Conrad to take his own life, she actively prevented others from intervening in his suicide.
The board ruled that Carter’s self serving statements and behavior, leading up to and after Conrad’s suicide, appear to be irrational and lacked sincerity. Carter needs to further address her causative factors that led to the governing offense according to the board.
The decision was unanimous.
The board also stated that her release is not compatible with the best interest of society and she did not provide sufficient insight into the reason for lack of empathy at the time of the crime and the surrounding time period.
Carter has served 7 of a 15 month sentence.
