UPDATE: Dartmouth man dies jumping off of Mount Hope Bridge
Police confirm that a man died jumping off of the Mount Hope Bridge Sunday morning.
Portsmouth Police responded to the Mt Hope Bridge for a report that someone had jumped from the center span. Upon arrival there were multiple witnesses who confirmed that a male party was seen jumping from the bridge.
Portsmouth and Bristol Police along with Portsmouth Fire and the Bristol Harbor Master dispatched boats to the scene. A 50-year-old Dartmouth man was recovered from the water and brought to the hospital. The man later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the fall.
The RI Medical Examiners are investigating the incident.
