No OPA boat races this summer in Fall River
If you were looking forward to the boat races in Fall River this summer, you will be out of luck.
When the OPA boat racing schedule was released, Fall River was notably off of the list. After seeing this and receiving questions from the community, we contacted the Tipsy Seagull to try and determine why the races would not be headed to the waterfront this year. They in turn released a statement on Facebook.
The statement as follows:
There have been several inquiries as to whether or not Borden Light Marina will be hosting the OPA Grand Prix Races in 2019.
This year we have decided to not host the OPA Races and instead, concentrate our volunteer and fundraising efforts on our Annual Borden Light Marina Charity Poker Run. This year we are teaming up with Make-a-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island with hopes of raising enough money to sponsor wishes for children in the local area.
Please feel free to spread the word! We are very excited to be working with Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island and our local communities to help provide seriously-ill children hope, strength and joy.
