The Veterans Association of Bristol County could use the public’s help.

The organization’s van is in desperate need of being replaced according to President Doc Ramsay. “Our current vehicle is almost 20 years old and it is a conversion van. It’s on its last legs. It should have been replaced a few years ago. It’s just costly to repair and maintain. It’s a passenger van that’s seen better days and not built to transport over a ton of food.”

The Veterans’ Center currently disseminates about 330 to 400 food bags per month, and will be doing more work in the community to help more Veterans in need according to current Executive Director Trott Lee.

The Veterans Association is looking to purchase a refrigerated truck with a lift gate.

They went looking last week and were shocked to find that new trucks with the capacity they need are $80 to 100K for a new one. So they found a really nice used refrigerated box truck for $30K. The truck will handle everything they need.

This is where the public comes in and Ramsay is hoping for the community support. “Of course we don’t have that kind of money so I’m asking for the public’s help. We have raised about $7K. Looking to raise $27K with your generosity. Please donate so we can continue with our ever growing food pantry . All contributions are tax deductible. We are a non profit operating on a grant from the state which just about covers payroll. Community support is our lifeblood.”
