A man and woman were seriously injured in a Rhode Island motorcycle crash on Monday.
According to Chief of Police Mark Carrier, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Hopkinton Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Spring Street and Charnley Ave for a report of a motorcycle accident with serious injuries.
The operator of the motorcycle, 39-year-old Kevin McDonald of Hopkinton, was transported immediately with severe facial trauma; the motorcycle passenger, 33-year-old Katlyn Cook of Tiverton, was also transported for evaluation of potential internal injuries.
A preliminary on-scene investigation and witness statements indicate McDonald was driving erratically while traveling westbound on Spring Street. McDonald passed two vehicles in a no-passing zone at an extremely high rate of speed before colliding with a vehicle making a left-hand turn onto Charnley Ave.
The accident is still under investigation with the assistance of the RISP Collision Reconstruction Unit.
