A fundraiser has been created after a father and his two young children lost everything in a weekend blaze in Bristol County.

According to the department, on Saturday at approximately 7:00 p.m. the Fairhaven Fire Department received a dispatch from Holbrook Regional Communications for a report of a structure fire in the area of Main Street and North Street.

While responding, the fire alarm operator was able to confirm an address of 216 Main Street. Engine 2, Engine 4, Ladder 1, Car 1, Car 2 and Car 3 responded, and a box was struck for additional personnel to the scene.

Upon arrival, heavy fire was showing from the side of the house on the first floor and smoke was showing out of all floors.

All occupants were reported out of the building however, their animals were reported still inside.

On the working fire assignment, both a Mattapoisett and New Bedford engine responded to the scene and an Acushnet engine covered the station. The incident reached a second alarm, bringing New Bedford EMS and the Providence Canteen in, moving the Acushnet engine to the scene but remaining available to respond to other incoming emergencies.

Fairhaven Police, Fairhaven Emergency Management were also on scene providing support. The fire, which started on the first floor, extended to the second floor and the attic space. Crews worked diligently to bring the fire under control and assess for additional fire in void spaces.

Unfortunately, two of the three animals that were removed succumbed to their injuries sustained in the fire. The home sustained major damage and is uninhabitable.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, a father and his two young daughters lost everything.

The cause is under investigation and is not considered suspicious.
