A man accused of fleeing a motor vehicle crash that left a woman dead has been arrested by ICE.
ICE Boston has announced that they arrested Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano, a criminal illegal alien from Ecuador, following his release from Massachusetts DOC custody.
ICE stated that his criminal history includes conviction for vehicular homicide-negligent manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injured person.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 3rd, 2023, a 2008 Toyota Scion TC and a 2015 Honda Accord were traveling northbound on Route 24 in West Bridgewater. The two vehicles collided, leaving the Honda Accord disabled with no lights in a lane of travel. A second collision occurred between an approaching pickup truck and the disabled Honda Accord. 46-year-old Erpharo Gilbert of Raynham was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Toyota Scion got out of his vehicle, but then returned to his car and fled the scene. The Scion left behind a bumper and license plate.
An investigation determined that Altamirano was behind the wheel operating the Toyota Scion when he knowingly collided with Gilbert’s vehicle and subsequently fled the scene.
