A co-owner of a Massachusetts ice cream spot has started a GoFundMe fundraiser for the shop’s young employees after a public post defending them drew a wave of support.
David Forgit, of Blackstone’s Coldstuff Ice Cream, organized “Support Our Young Employees.” and the fundraiser created 2 days ago has raised over $3,000.
Forgit wrote that a customer was unkind to a teenage employee, and that he then posted on Facebook asking people to stop yelling at the staff. The message went viral. He said many people asked how they could help the workers.

“Folks, we’ve received lots of attention lately, and many of you have asked how you can donate to these kids,” Forgit wrote. “100% of this will go directly to them. We’re not asking for donations. We are doing this for those who’ve asked.”
The fundraiser noted that 100% of the funds will go directly to the employees to help them as they take those next steps into adulthood and education.
