Bristol County District Attorney identifies 18-year-old from Brockton killed in Raynham pedestrian collision

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced the identity of a pedestrian who was struck and killed in Raynham on Tuesday. 

Raynham Police and EMS were dispatched to the area of 430 New State Highway in Raynham at approximately 6;15 a.m. 

Upon arrival they located a pedestrian who had been struck by a 2017 Honda CRV.  The victim was located near the crash scene with serious injuries.  He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Jean Charles of Brockton.

According to multiple reports, Charles worked at the nearby Chipotle location and was crossing the road to get a coffee at Dunkin’.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a Honda CR-V, driven by a 37-year-old man from Taunton, was traveling west on Route 44 when it struck the pedestrian as he crossed the street.

The driver remained at the scene. Brewster Ambulance transported the driver and a passenger to Morton Hospital in Taunton to be evaluated.

The investigation into this matter is active and ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Raynham Police.  No further information is available at this time.
