WORCESTER, MA. – Award-winning Worcester filmmaker Tommy Jay Dwyer’s Burnin’ Down the House is coming to the Scholarship City.
Presented in partnership with the Last Call Foundation, the film explores the hidden challenges facing today’s firefighters, from aging firehouses to the long-term health risks associated with the job. Through intimate interviews and unprecedented access inside Massachusetts firehouses, the documentary asks a simple but urgent question:
Who protects those who protect us?
For Dwyer, whose family has deep roots in the fire service, this project is personal.
“This film was never about buildings,” said Dwyer. “It’s about the people inside them. It’s about firefighters who continue to show up for their communities despite the sacrifices that come with the job. I wanted to tell the real story about what the real men and women face on the front lines.”
The doc features Fall River’s own in addition to other firefighters in the state.
There will be two showings at Picture Show at SouthCoast Marketplace. October 23rd and October 24th. Each at 5:00 p.m.
