FALL RIVER, MA — The City of Fall River Department of Veterans Services is inviting veteran service organizations, local businesses, schools, civic groups, first responders, community organizations, military-affiliated groups, and supporters of veterans to register to participate in the City’s 2026 Veterans Day Parade, taking place Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
This year’s Veterans Day observance will be held under the theme:
“A Legacy of Service: From Generation to Generation.”
The theme recognizes the generations of American veterans who have answered the call to serve while emphasizing the responsibility of today’s community to honor their service and carry that legacy forward.
“Veterans Day should be a day when our veterans can look around their community and see that their service is remembered and appreciated,” said Fall River Director of Veterans Services Talos Farris. “We want our veteran organizations, businesses, schools, community groups, and residents to be part of that message. Whether someone served generations ago or only recently returned home, they should know that Fall River stands with its veterans.”
The Department of Veterans Services is encouraging participation from organizations throughout Fall River and the surrounding community.
Potential parade participants may include:
Veteran service and military organizations
Veterans of all generations and branches of service
Local businesses and employers
Civic and community organizations
Schools, student groups, bands, and youth organizations
Police, fire, EMS, and other first responders
Military-affiliated organizations and honor guards
Nonprofit and charitable organizations
Organizations supporting veterans and military families
Participants may register marching groups, organizational banners, decorated vehicles, floats, bands, color guards, or other appropriate entries.
Veterans who may not be able to walk the parade route are also encouraged to participate, and organizations are encouraged to consider vehicle or transportation options that allow older veterans and veterans with mobility limitations to take part.
Organizations wishing to participate should register as soon as possible.
Registration should include the organization’s name, primary contact information, approximate number of participants, type of parade entry, vehicle information if applicable, and any special staging or accessibility needs. Additional parade instructions will be distributed to registered participants prior to Veterans Day.
The Department of Veterans Services encourages participating organizations to reflect this year’s theme, “A Legacy of Service: From Generation to Generation,” through their participation whenever possible. The City also encourages residents to attend the parade and associated Veterans Day ceremonies in support of Fall River’s veteran community.
Additional information regarding the Grand Marshal, ceremony schedule, Veterans Day honorees, parade route, and other activities will be announced as Veterans Day approaches.
