The Fall River Police Department has made an arrest in a reported weekend armed robbery of a convenience store.
According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, on Sunday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to Discount Food Mart, 1501 Pleasant Street, for a reported robbery.
Investigating officers learned that an individual entered the business wearing a mask and wielding a weapon while demanding money. It was reported that the suspect fled the area.
Acting Chief J.T. Hoar told Fall River Reporter that the suspect, Tajuan Lamont Holloman, was captured on Monday and charged with Armed and Masked Robbery and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
The suspect reportedly entered the store wearing a “Scream Ghost Face” mask, threatened the clerk with what appeared to be a firearm, and fled with approximately $1,500. Surveillance footage later helped investigators recover the mask and what turned out to be a tire iron wrapped in a white sock.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division then began piecing together surveillance footage from across the city, tracking the suspect and a distinctive vehicle before and after the robbery. That investigation led detectives to identify a vehicle of interest and ultimately locate the vehicle the following day.
Court records show that in Fall River District Court on Tuesday Holloman was ordered to undergo an examination for competency to stand trial.
