B.M.C. Durfee High School Principal Dr. Jessica Stephens is proud to announce that Julia Rumsey has been named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Julia is among approximately 34,000 students nationwide recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students are placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT.
This national recognition reflects Julia’s outstanding potential for academic success and her commitment to excellence.
In April, Rumsey was one of 24 members of the Class of 2027 at B.M.C. Durfee High School who were honored with the Junior Book Award. The Junior Book Award recognizes students for their outstanding academic achievement and commitment to their school and community.
She also captured the Harvard University Book Prize Award, awarded to the top ranked student in the class of 2027.
At January’s DECA competition, Rumsey claimed 4th Place in Personal Financial Literacy.
She is also a skilled hitter and runner for Durfee’s softball team batting nearly .400 and stealing nearly a base a game.
