A major fire kept Fall River firefighters busy overnight after flames broke out in the Rodman Street and South Main Street area.
According to the City of Fall River, the fire was reported just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night at 26 Rodman Street. When crews arrived, they were met with heavy fire in the rear of the building.
According to Fall River Fire Department District Chief Sean Flannery, the fire spread through the building and eventually extended into two neighboring commercial buildings.
At one point, heavy flames and smoke could be seen coming from the buildings as crews worked the scene.
One firefighter suffered a laceration but was able to remain at the scene and was not transported to the hospital.
As of this morning, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Officials are holding off on identifying individual businesses as damaged or destroyed until that information is officially confirmed.
The City of Fall River thanked the Fall River firefighters and everyone who responded and worked through the night.
