A motorcyclist who died after a collision that took place on Friday night in Rhode Island has been identified.
According to Chief of Police Eric Rollinson, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Scituate police and fire personnel responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a flatbed tow truck on Tunk Hill Road near the Potterville Fire Station.
Based on preliminary witness statements, the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Tunk Hill Road when a flatbed tow truck exited a driveway with its amber emergency lights activated. The motorcycle operator was unable to stop and collided with the tow truck. As a result of the impact, the operator was ejected from the motorcycle.
The motorcycle operator has been identified as Douglas Larose, a 22-year-old Foster resident, who sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was the sole occupant of the motorcycle at the time of the crash. The tow truck operator was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Rhode Island State Police responded to the scene and assisted with the accident reconstruction investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that speed was a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
