
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a homicide investigation is underway related to an overnight shooting on Weir Street in Taunton.
Taunton Police and EMS were dispatched to a home located at 261 Weir Street after receiving 911 calls reporting a shooting in that area last evening at approximately 12:35 am on Sunday.
Upon arrival, police were able to determine that a large gathering had taken place in the yard of 261 Weir Street. Several attendees were still on scene. Through an initial investigation by the Taunton Police, Massachusetts State Police and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attonrey’s Office, investigators were able to identify 8 shooting victims from the gathering.
The 8 identified victims, all in their early twenties, were transported to various local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims, identified as 22-year-old, Zirovick Depina of Brockton, was pronounced deceased early this morning. Of the remaining victims, one is in serious but stable condition and the remaining victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into this matter is active and ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Taunton Police.
