A local man is accused of stealing over a half dozen vehicles this week.
According to police, on Wednesday, at approximately 5:00 a.m., The Marshfield Police Department responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a local residence.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the detached garage had been broken into and 8 dirtbikes and 1 all-terrain vehicle had been stolen, totaling approximately $93,000 in value. Based on CCTV footage obtained from the homeowner, 3 masked suspects were observed forcing entry to the victim’s garage and removing the dirtbikes and ATV between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene for evidence, and an investigation was immediately conducted by the Marshfield Police Department. With help from the Lakeville Police Department, Plymouth Police Department, CCTV footage and the use of social media, a suspect was quickly identified.
On Friday, an arrest warrant for the suspect was issued by Plymouth District Court. Officers from the Marshfield Police Department travelled to New Bedford and served the warrant.
20-year-old Aiden Amaral of New Bedford was placed under arrest and transported to the Marshfield Police Department where he will face numerous felony charges. He will be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Tuesday on the following charges:
