A FedEx tractor trailer caught fire on a Bristol County highway.
According to the fire department union, at 4:00 a.m. this morning, Mansfield Engine 32 (E32) and Foxborough Ladder 26 (L26) were dispatched to 495 Southbound at mile marker 33.6 for a reported tractor-trailer fire.
Upon arrival, E32 reported fire showing beneath the trailer and immediately stretched an attack line to begin fire suppression. E32 and L26 worked together to extinguish the fire; however, access became difficult as the fire extended into the trailer’s contents.
To gain access to the burning contents, crews utilized extrication tools to cut through the trailer’s roll-up door. After E32 utilized its 750-gallon onboard water supply for extinguishment, L26 transferred its tank water to E32, allowing crews to continue wetting down the trailer and conducting overhaul operations.
