Massachusetts teen who died trying to rescue girlfriend remembered for putting others before himself

A Massachusetts teen killed while trying to rescue his girlfriend at a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority train station is being remembered.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, a 19-year-old man died after falling onto the electrified third rail at the MBTA’s Forest Hills Station.

According to MBTA Transit Police, both he and a 19-year-old woman entered the station carrying flags from Caribbean countries during Boston’s Caribbean Carnival. The woman became unsteady, lost her balance near the platform edge, and fell toward the tracks. The man tried to help her up and both fell into the right-of-way. He landed on the third rail.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital.

According to his cousin and a GoFundMe fundraiser, Frankey Wright will always be remembered as a “noble boy with a big heart, someone who put others before himself even in his final moments.” A friend also described him as friendly, funny, and easy to talk to.

Police say foul play is not suspected.

The incident remains under investigation
