The Nine Massachusetts Ballot Questions of 2026

The state Elections Division announced the numbers for the nine ballot questions of the 2026 election cycle on July 21. They were ordered “in a manner intended to maximize space on the ballot, with the length of the question summaries being the primary consideration.”

The nine statewide questions will appear on November ballots in the following order:

The Elections Division said ballots in most communities are expected to be two to three pages or cards long, but that ballot lengths will depend on the number of offices and candidates running in that community, whether the ballot must be printed in more than one language, and any local questions that may be added to the ballot by the city or town. The voter information booklet this year could go on for 88 pages, in part because the lengthy text of the 2024 gun law being eyed for possible repeal must be printed in the booklet.
