Patrolmen’s Association responds after police report 2 are dead, 13 shot in total, in 5 hour stretch in Boston

In what was supposed to be a time for joyous celebration, tragedy struck in Boston last night leaving 2 dead and over a dozen people shot in total.

According to police, at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Sunday, an officer assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) observed a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of 500 Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury.

Officers then located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of 500 Blue Hill Avenue. All three were treated and transported by Boston EMS to local hospitals.  One victim was pronounced at the hospital. The other two victims’ injuries are considered non-life-threatening. A fourth victim self-applied to a local hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is expected to survive.

At approximately 3:14 a.m. on Sunday, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 120 George Street in Roxbury.

Upon arrival, officers located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds in the area of 120 George Street. All three were treated and transported by Boston EMS to local hospitals.  One victim was pronounced at the hospital. The second victim’s injuries are considered life-threatening at this time. The third victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening.

At 4:06 a.m., three victims self-applied to a local hospital suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wounds that occurred at the same location.  

According to NBC10 Boston, there were three other shootings with one just before midnight on Saturday on Fayston Street in Roxbury, another just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Horadan Way in Roxbury, and another just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday on Draper Street in Dorchester where one person was shot in each incident with all expected to survive.

The Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association issued the following statement after the shootings.

“Hate to say we told you so. Boston erupted in chaos and violence again last night. 13 people shot, at least two dead, two more stabbed early this morning and all the while “officer in trouble” calls being heard all across the city. As a result, the BPPA continues its calls for more cops on the street and more help and support from elected leadership.”
