Crews respond to early morning collision with injuries on Route 44

A driver was injured after an early morning highway collision.

According to the department, the Lakeville Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 44 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

At the time of the crash, the department’s on-duty personnel were committed to a cardiac arrest in another part of town. As a result, recalled firefighters staffed Ambulance 1 and Engine 2 to respond to the crash, while Car 1 responded directly from home.

An adult male was treated at the scene and transported by Lakeville Ambulance to Boston Medical Center South.

Car 1 was abandoned at the scene, while the Chief assisted with care and transport of the patient to the hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
