Recent Massachusetts high school grad deceased after going missing while swimming remembered as hardworking, kind

A teenaged male, who went missing while swimming at Houghton’s Pond in Milton Saturday is being remembered.

According to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey, State police from the Milton barracks were called to the pond shortly after 7:00 p.m. The search for the missing swimmer was conducted by the MSP Underwater Recovery Team and Marine Unit and other area fire department assets.

The missing swimmer was later pronounced deceased at a Boston hospital. He is Kayron G. Costa, 18, of Quincy.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Costa “was a bright, hardworking, respectful, and caring young man with a promising future ahead of him. He was an exceptional son, a loving brother, a loyal friend, and a cherished grandson and nephew. His kindness and character touched everyone who knew him.

In 2019, Kayron’s parents moved from Brazil to the United States seeking a better future for their children, Kayron and his younger sister, Aruna. The family is now looking to bring Kayron back to Brazil for burial.

Costa just graduated from Quincy High School.

No further information was released, and the incident remains under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and MSP H-Troop Detectives.
