Tragedy has struck a local family leaving 2 members dead and another woman ill.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, 24-year-old Jadin Nael Cornelio and his mother, 50-year-old Raysa Juliza Serrano Guzmán of Pawtucket were recently found deceased in an apartment in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Media reports in the Dominican Republic state that authorities initially thought food poisoning killed the two U.S. citizens, but tests confirmed elevated levels of carbon monoxide, changing the course of the investigation.

22-year-old Carolin Milagros Perez was also hospitalized, but has since recovered.

A family member states that Jadin and Raysa “were deeply loved and will be remembered for the impact they had on everyone fortunate enough to know them.”
