Bristol County DA: 22-year-old man charged in fatal Raynham motorcycle crash; 52-year-old victim identified
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man for a motorcycle fatality that occurred on Friday in Raynham.
Raynham Police and EMS were dispatched to the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street at 11:50 p.m., for reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, police located a black Harley Davidson motorcycle resting on its side with heavy front-end damage in the northbound travel lane of South East Street.
The operator of the motorcycle, 52-year-old Scott Piche of New Bedford, was found lying in the roadway with significant injury. Piche was transported to Morton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Police also located a White Ford Explorer with heavy front-end damage facing east in the westbound travel lane of Hill Street. The operator of the Explorer, Jacob Larsen of Avon, MA, remained on scene and spoke to police. At the time of this incident, Larsen’s license had been suspended due to previously being charged with Operating while Under the Influence. That case is currently pending in the Taunton District Court. Police investigation in this matter resulted in the arrest of Jacob Larsen who has been charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation, Operating a Motor Vehicle while License Suspended for OUI, Marked Lanes Violation and Failure to Yield.
The defendant will be arraigned Monday morning in the Taunton District Court.
This matter continues to be investigated by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Raynham Police Department.
