A Bristol County man has died after a collision that took place last month.

According to Fire Chief Scott Lachance, at approximately 12:00 a.m. on April 19th, Attleboro Fire Department crews responded to the area of Angeline Street at Washington Street for a reported motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, firefighters located a single vehicle that had struck a retaining wall and sustained significant front-end damage.

The sole male occupant was found unresponsive inside the vehicle. Crews used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver, a process that took approximately 10 minutes to complete. CPR was initiated immediately, and the patient was transported to a Rhode Island hospital for emergency care.

According to an obituary, 64-year-old Kevin Swanson of Rehoboth passed away while accompanied “by his loyal Blue Heeler, Ronin, who also died in the accident.”

Swanson served as a Naval firefighter. Over the years, he worked as an independent mechanic and small-scale farmer. He had an appreciation for old farm trucks and especially tractors.

“He was a devoted son, spending years by his father’s side and later caring for his mother through her battle with Alzheimer’s, ensuring that both were able to remain at home on the family farm until their passing.”

A relative described Swanson as one of the greatest guys you would ever meet.

Services were held on Wednesday.
