PLYMPTON/KINGSTON — The alleged suspect in a disturbing social media case involving a former Silver Lake Regional School District employee has been found deceased, according to a joint announcement from Kingston Police Chief Brian Holmes and Plympton Police Chief Matthew Ahl.

The investigation began on the evening of Thursday, April 9, 2026, after Kingston Police received reports of a concerning TikTok video. The video allegedly showed an adult male — at the time employed by the Silver Lake Regional School District — engaged in a sexualized conversation with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl.

Kingston Police quickly determined the suspect lived in Plympton and that the video appeared to have been recorded at his residence. Jurisdiction was transferred to the Plympton Police Department. Investigators from both departments worked collaboratively with the Silver Lake Regional School District, TikTok staff, and members of the public to gather evidence. Officials emphasized that they found no information indicating that any students were victimized.

Authorities had been preparing to seek arrest and search warrants when, early this morning, the Plympton Police Department was notified by the Rhode Island State Police that the alleged suspect had been found deceased. The State of Rhode Island is handling the death investigation, and no foul play is suspected at this time.

Although the suspect’s death closes one aspect of the case, police stated that the investigation remains active to ensure no other potential victims exist.

The joint statement from Chiefs Holmes and Ahl expressed appreciation for the rapid cooperation between the departments and all partner agencies involved in the case.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
