In a 7-0 vote, the Fall River City Council voted Tuesday night to initiate a formal investigation into the actions of the Fall River Police Department involving their use of a search warrant to identify an individual behind an anonymous social media account.

Fall River City Council President and Chair of the Public Safety Committee Councilor Christopher Peckham filed the motion in response to Fall River Reporter’s story From “One of the Best” to Targeted: How Fall River Police Department Weaponized a Warrant Against Ex-FRPD Officer

Councilor Linda Pereira, who admitted that she “hasn’t seen the whole report,” spoke out against the investigation and then voted present. Councilors Cliff Ponte, Michelle Dionne, Shawn Cadime, Joe Camara, Michael Canuel, Christopher Peckham and Andrew Raposo voted yes. Councilor Paul Hart was not in attendance.
