Police and school issue update after Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School in Fall River placed on lockdown
Diman Regional Technical Vocational High School is currently in a Shelter in Place following a 9-1-1 call from a male claiming to be inside a school bathroom with a firearm and an explosive vest.
The call came in at approximately 11:45 a.m.
According to police, School Resource Officers were already on scene and immediately began checking the building. Additional Patrol Officers, Detectives, and K9 Caide responded to assist in ensuring the school is safe.
While the caller provided detailed information about themselves, they were unable to provide any details about the school that would indicate actual knowledge of the building. This call is consistent with prior “swatting” incidents police have investigated. Despite indications that this may be a hoax, FRPD is treating the threat as real and responded with all available resources.
At this time, there does not appear to be any direct threat.
Detectives are actively working to identify the individual responsible.
Here is an update issued by the school.
