City of Fall River to hold community celebration: “Love Your Block” Father Travassos Park Garden Kick-Off and Quequechan Rail Trail extension Ribbon Cutting
FALL RIVER, MA — The community is invited to join in a day of celebration on April 12th as the City hosts the “Love Your Block” Father Travassos Park Community Garden Kick-off and the Quequechan Rail Trail extension Ribbon Cutting ceremony, featuring special participation from the mayor.
The Trustees will lead a walking tour of the newly extended trail with festivities beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the Fall River Youth Marines filling and planting the new raised garden beds at Father Travassos Park, marking the start of the growing season.
Following the garden activities, the official Ribbon Cutting for the Alfred Lima Quequechan Rail Trail extension will take place, with opportunities for attendees to explore the new trail alongside The Trustees.
“I have been coordinating the event and handling the logistics to ensure everything runs smoothly,” said the event organizer. “It is my desire and hope that the Flint Neighborhood Association will join us for this special occasion. We welcome all community partners and residents to participate in the celebrations for the new rail trail extension and the start of the season at the Flint neighborhood Father Travassos Park community garden.”
If you would like to secure a raised garden bed, please email Dr. Gloria Saddler at gsaddler@fallriverma.gov.
All are welcome to attend and take part in this day of civic pride, community spirit, and outdoor activity.
