Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs announces sudden passing of 20-year member Deputy Sheriff

The Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs has announced the recent and sudden passing of one of their own.

Deputy Sheriff Gregory Zagaglia was a 20-year member of the Division of Sheriffs, recently assigned to the Headquarters communication center, and was also a proud member of the Providence Police Pipe and Drums Association.

Deputy Zagaglia began his career with the State of Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs in 2006 and worked in multiple commands throughout the State.

He passed away on Wednesday. A cause of death was not released.

The Division thanked their law enforcement partners for the support they have offered the Division and Deputy Zagaglia’s family during this time. Special gratitude was also given to the Rhode Island State Police, Cranston Fire Department, and the Emergency Room staff at the Rhode Island Hospital.
