Massachusetts State Police Trooper transported to hospital after Fall River highway crash

A local crash is under investigation after a Massachusetts State Police cruiser was struck with a Trooper inside on Friday.

According to Trooper Leah O’Connell, at just after 2:00 p.m., Troopers were investigating a tractor trailer crash when their cruiser was struck from behind by another tractor trailer on Route 79 South near North Main Street in Fall River.

One Trooper, a recent graduate of the 92nd RTT, was inside the cruiser at the time of the crash, while his field training officer was outside.

The Trooper was transported to the hospital for possible injuries.

The crash will be investigated by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
