Charlton Memorial Hospital 2025 Volunteer of the Year from Fall River passes away
A Fall River man who volunteered his time to the community, even in his retirement years, has died.
According to an obituary, 74-year-old Arthur “Butch” Paul, Jr., formerly of Somerset passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday.
“Born in Fall River, he lived in Somerset many years before moving to Fall River. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church while in Somerset where he was a CCD teacher, lector and Eucharistic Minister. Butch was a graduate of Westport High School, BCC and UMass Dartmouth and attended Fairfield University School of Financial Studies. He worked at Fall River Five Cent Savings bank, People’s Credit Union and Bridgewater Credit Union specializing in Marketing.”
After retirement, Butch worked at Hathaway Funeral Service and volunteered at Charlton Memorial Hospital where he was the 2025 Volunteer of the Year. According to Southcoast Health, he joined the volunteer program in 2019 and dedicated his time assisting staff in the Charlton Memorial Hospital Surgery Center waiting room. He escorted patients to their testing sites and was also a great asset in welcoming new volunteers by offering his guidance.
