The Fall River Public Library, 104 North Main Street, will become a land of fantasy and enchantment for young patrons and their families as it celebrates Fairy Tale Week, until November 17th, with a magical assortment of storytimes, puppet shows, and other events inspired by the world of fairy tales. This program is made possible through the generosity of the Fall River Women’s Union.

On Tuesday, November 13, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.  Join them for this very special fairytale preschool storytime in the meeting room featuring a visit by Mother Goose herself! Children will make a fairy tale character puppet following storytime! Parents are encouraged to arrive on time for the start of the storytime. Introduce your child to the exciting world of literacy! Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. Recommended for ages 3 to 5.

On Wednesday, November 14, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., children can be transformed into their favorite fairy tale characters via the talented brushwork of Casey’s Faces! Become the Big, Bad Wolf, Cinderella, a fairy princess or another character from your favorite fairy tale. While children await their turn to have their faces painted, they will be invited to make their own fairy tale-inspired stick puppets. Puppets will include a princess, a dashing knight, or a fearsome dragon. A mini puppet booth will be available for children to test their finished creations. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

On Thursday, November 15 at 3:30 p.m., each child visiting the Children’s Room will receive their own 8 ½” x 11” fairy tale landscape to fill with stick-on knights, princesses, dragons, castles, and more, allowing children to create their own enchanted world! A raffle for some great fairy tale books will take place during the program. This program is recommended for children ages 3 and up.

The Library will conclude its week of enchantment on Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. Join us at the PAL Auditorium, 31 Franklin Street (one block from the library) for the Gerwick Puppets dazzling presentation of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp! This exciting tale taken from the “Arabian Nights” has it all: a brave hero, a beautiful princess, and a secret cave with an all-powerful genie! Children are invited to attend this event dressed as their favorite fairy tale character. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed male and female characters in attendance. This program is recommended for children ages 4 and up.
