President and CEO of Fall River business recognized with New England award
(Fall River, Mass) – BankFive has announced that President and CEO Anne Tangen was honored by the New England Women in Banking & Mortgage with the Sandra J. Pattie Award at the annual New England Women in Banking Conference.
The award was created in honor of Sandra J. Pattie, the first female president of BankNewport, who served in the role for nearly 10 years. It is presented annually to a woman in the banking industry “who has made outstanding contributions to the banking landscape in New England.”
“I am honored to receive this award from the New England Women in Banking & Mortgage at its annual event that brings together leading women in the financial services industry from across the region,” said Tangen. “Receiving an award in honor of Sandra J. Pattie is deeply meaningful and inspirational to me. As the first woman president of BankFive, I look to leaders like Sandra who are examples of outstanding leadership in the banking industry.”
Tangen has served as BankFive’s President and CEO since 2020 and under her leadership has had success including an expanded focus on giving back to the community by establishing the President’s Scholarship Fund. Before BankFive, Tangen served in several roles during her 14-year tenure at Fidelity Investments, was an Executive Vice President at State Street Bank, and was COO and CIO at Cape Cod Cooperative Bank.
Beyond her role at BankFive, Tangen is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank’s First District’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council, where she advises the bank on the economy, lending issues, and more. Tangen also serves on the American Bankers Association Board of Directors, a role in which she is tasked with making key strategic decisions, such as providing guidance to ensure the ABA fulfills its mission to support American banks. Additionally, she is the Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Bankers Association Board of Directors.
Tangen has founded the Alden Pettengill Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to donating to families in need, and serves on the Board of Argosy Collegiate Charter School in Fall River, the SouthCoast Community Foundation, the Southcoast Health President’s Council, and the Savings Banks Employees Retirement Association.
Tangen received her award at the conference on Wednesday alongside several others. She has been a longtime supporter of the New England Women in Banking Conference, having been featured on multiple panels and serving as a keynote speaker at the conference in 2023.
