Massachusetts DOT announces Veterans Memorial Bridge lane closures for these 3 days

FALL RIVER/SOMERSET– The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that it will perform a bridge inspection on the Veterans Memorial Bridge (Route 6) eastbound and westbound in Fall River and Somerset beginning this week. 

Work is scheduled to take place between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 22nd and daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26th, and Tuesday, January 27th. Work is anticipated to be fully completed by Tuesday afternoon, January 27th. 

Motor vehicle interruptions will be as follows:

• January 22 – 23: Route 6 eastbound/Route 138 southbound right lane closure (exit ramps to remain open)
• January 26: Alternating single lane closures on Route 79 northbound under Veterans Memorial Bridge
• January 27: Alternating single lane closures, and shoulder closures/lane shifts on Route 79 southbound under Veterans’ Memorial Bridge

All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
