Over $100,000 in cocaine found by RI State Police inside container of juice boxes

Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety, announces the arrest of a Providence resident on narcotics charges after Troopers seized $110,000 worth of cocaine and fentanyl during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in West Greenwich.

Ana Melendez Santana, age 23, of 21 Sassafras St., Providence, was charged with:

Manufacture/possession/delivery of more than one kilo of cocaine
Delivery/possession with intent to deliver and manufacture – cocaine
Delivery/possession with intent to deliver and manufacture – fentanyl

Santana also was cited for driving with expired registration and operating a motor vehicle without evidence of insurance.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop on Interstate 95 North near Weaver Hill Road in West Greenwich at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday. Troopers seized several vacuum-sealed packages from a container of juice boxes in the car. The packages were found to contain:

3 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated $100,000
4.3 ounces of fentanyl worth an estimated $10,000

Santana was arrested and processed at the Wickford Barracks and was held for arraignment in Third Division District Court.
