Massachusetts teenager who shot another teen in the face sentenced to prison in Fall River Superior Court

A Massachusetts teenager has been sentenced to prison in Fall River for shooting another teen earlier this year.

According to Easton Police, 19-year-old Anthony Lopes of Brockton pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to five felony charges: armed robbery, assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, possessing a firearm without a license, and possessing a large-capacity firearm. He was sentenced to no less than two years and six months to no more than three years in state prison, followed by a two-year probationary period, which includes conditions of staying away from the victim. 

The victim, a 16-year-old female, was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound to the face outside the Avalon Apartment Complex located on Robert Drive on January 14th.

Lopes was arrested on firearms related charges following the shooting and has been held without bail since January 27th. 

According to The Enterprise, the victim was shot during a robbery gone bad over an $800 designer jacket she was attempting to sell.

Two additional suspects, Xavion Barnes, 19 and Antonio Fonseca, 19, both of Brockton are still facing charges of accessory after the fact in connection with the shooting. 

Philip Adams, Deputy Chief of Police, thanked the Detective Division, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and all assisting law enforcement agencies for their dedicated work and collaboration in this successful investigation and prosecution.
