One year-old dead, 5-year-old injured, in fatal head-on crash in Taunton
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced a serious motor vehicle crash in Taunton Saturday evening that claimed the life of a child who was almost 2 years old.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., Taunton EMS received 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle collision in front of 400 Broadway, which is also Route 138.
Upon arrival, first responders located a head on collision in front of 400 Broadway that involved a white Chevy Van and a blue Toyota Rav 4 SUV. The white van was located centered in the northbound lane in the correct direction of travel. The Rav 4 appeared to have crashed into the white van resulting in heavy crash damage to both vehicles.
The white van was occupied by four adult males, who remained on scene and did not display any injuries.
The Rav 4 was occupied by a 25-year-old female driver who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition and the driver’s two young children. An almost 2-year-old female child was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival and a 5-year-old female child was transported to an out of state trauma center and was in stable condition.
The investigation is being coordinated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Taunton Police Department.
