9 year old child dead, Police and DCYF investigating
A local child was transported to the hospital and died this afternoon.
According to Major Mark Ullucci of the Warwick Police Department, on Thursday, January 3 at approximately 4:50 pm, members of the Warwick Police and Fire Departments responded to a medical call at 405 Oakland Beach Avenue. A 9 year old child with a previous medical condition was transported to Kent Hospital. Shortly after arriving at Kent Hospital, the child was declared deceased.
Currently the Warwick Police Detective Division and DCYF are conducting an extensive investigation into this incident.
According to NBC 10, DCYF had previous involvement with the family and that the deceased child shared the home with as many as seven other children.
