9 finalists announced for Fall River Youth of the Year, this year’s winner makes history

A Diman student made history on Thursday.
Madyson Holmes is this school year’s Fall River Youth of the Year.
Holmes made history as the first Diman student to receive this prestigious award.
Out of 26 nominees, 9 students were selected as finalists for their leadership, service, and dedication to making Fall River a better place. The 26 students were nominated by adults in their lives and went through an interview process.
According to Diman, Holmes dreams of joining the Local 537 Pipefitters Union and launching a mentorship program to support Fall River youth and expand trade opportunities.
1st Runner Up for the award was Shirley Crespo, and seven finalists, Ryan Horsman, Melanie, Berrios, Jenna Barboza, Damien Choun, Obier Herrera, Michaela Goncalves, and Zahra Sheikh.
Mayor Paul Coogan was on hand to present the award, and each student was also issued a citation for their excellence from State Representative Carole Fiola.
