Fall River will be holding a Rite of Reflection Ceremony honoring those who lost their lives in the attacks on September 11, 2001.

In memory of the deadliest attack on our nation, Battleship Cove will conduct a remembrance ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial site at Battleship Cove, 5 Water Street on Tuesday, September 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m..

The ceremony will conclude with a release of doves and a 21-gun salute from the USS Massachusetts 5” guns.

Rev. Lyndon Harris will be the guest speaker. Harris began work as (Episcopal) priest in charge of Saint Paul’s Chapel in April 2001, (located directly across the street from the World Trade Center) to start a new community outreach. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he initiated a rescue mission at Saint Paul’s Chapel to serve the critical needs of the first responders. With an enormous outpouring of love and support, Saint Paul’s Chapel was converted into a multi-faith relief center offering food (over 500,000 meals), massage therapy, grief counseling, and chiropractic and podiatric care around the clock. The rescue mission increased to over 15,000 volunteers and ran from September 15, 2001 to June 2, 2002.

The event is open to the public and their is no charge for the ceremony.
