84-year-old Bristol County man dies from injuries sustained in pedestrian crash
An elderly Bristol County man who was rushed to the hospital after suffering injuries in a pedestrian crash has died.
According to police, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Easton Police Officers were dispatched to 519 Foundry Street (Route 106) following a 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle.
Upon arrival, Officers located a man lying in the roadway suffering from traumatic injuries. Officers treated the victim along with members of the Easton Fire Department, who also responded to the scene. The victim was identified as 84-year-old Michael Ginsberg of Easton and Ginsberg Books. Ginsberg was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, and later succumbed to the injuries he sustained.
The preliminary investigation has shown that Ginsberg was attempting to cross Foundry Street in front of La Familia restaurant, returning to his residence which was a short distance away. While crossing Foundry Street, Ginsberg was struck by a 2012 Hyundai sedan traveling westbound. The Hyundai that struck Ginsberg was being operated by a 24-year-old resident of Brockton. The operator remained on scene following the crash and was interviewed by investigators.
At this time no charges have been filed against the operator and the investigation remains ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police and Easton Detectives.
