83-year-old Fall River woman who worked for 25 years in Fall River schools passes away
OBITUARY
Barbara P. (Braney) Simcock, 83, of Fall River, MA, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 21, 1942, in Fall River and was preceded in death by her late beloved husband, George “Everett” Simcock. She was the daughter of the late Pauline (Skype) and Frank Braney Sr. of Fall River.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Fall River and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy in 1968. She then went on to graduate from Fisher College with a bachelor’s degree in business. Barbara worked for the Fall River School Department for 25 years in various schools as a paraprofessional until her eventual retirement from Durfee High School. Prior to that, she worked for the law firm of Long and Silvia.
Barbara is survived by her son, Charles E. Simcock and his wife, Kelly Simcock of Foster, RI, and her daughter Karla E. (Simcock) Rapoza of Fall River, and her partner Ryan Rivers of Berkley. Barbara also leaves behind six grandchildren, Charles, Savannah, and Lindsey Simcock; Patience and Colt Rapoza; and Davin Rivers.
Barbara was an avid sports fan, especially fond of the New England Patriots. She attended numerous events and enjoyed being able to watch her grandchildren participate in their sports and extracurricular activities, always cheering them on along the way. She was also an avid reader of romance novels and enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Barbara loved to go gallivanting and shopping, often enjoying lunch outings with friends. She had a real gift of drawing people in around her with her fun and energetic personality, seeming to know people no matter where she went.
Barbara was a previous parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, where she proudly displayed her Polish heritage. She also extended her faith to others by often including the names of sick and loved ones in her prayer group.
Barbara will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her and will always be affectionately remembered as Babchi.
Visitation hours will be held at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St., Fall River, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 AM.
Burial services will be private.
