76-year-old Fall River woman, former city restaurant owner, passes away

A former restaurant owner in the city of Fall River has died.

76-year-old Maria De Fatima De Freitas of Fall River passed away on Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

According to an obituary, “Fatima worked at Tillotson Rubber Co. in Fall River for several years when she immigrated to America with her family.  She was an amazing cook and went on to open a restaurant with her late husband “Restaurant Furnas” in Fall River until she retired.”

Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 8:30-10:30 AM in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
