70-year-old auto shop in Fall River to be replaced by tire chain, business states why they sold
A Fall River locally owned and operated business since 1932 is no more.
According to their social media account, Dave’s Tire Pros Tire & Auto Service at 325 Bedford Street closed for good Friday at noon.
Dave’s also stated that Town Faire Tire is renovating the building and turning it into their modern store.
Since 1967, Town Fair Tire has been selling tires at discount prices. All they sell is tires, however, which will be a change for the location.
Town Fair Tire has over 100 tire store locations throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It will be their only Fall River location.
Fall River Reporter contacted Dave’s Tire to ask what prompted the closure.
“The landlord didn’t want to be a landlord anymore and the three owners (Keith Mello, Everett Mello, John Cormier) were at retirement age, so we sold out both as a package. It was time. We were there 32 years. it was time.”
It is currently unclear when Town Fair Tire will open on Bedford Street.
