A motorcycle rider is fighting for his life after a serious collision.

According to Fire Chief Jack Glynn, at 3:11 p.m. Friday, crews were dispatched to the intersection of Brockton Avenue (Route 123) and Mill Street for a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision.

Both of Abington’s ambulances were at area hospitals, requiring mutual aid from Whitman Fire / Rescue.

Enroute crews received updates that the motorcycle operator was trapped underneath the vehicle. Abington units requested the Brockton Fire Rescue and Squad A to respond to assist in the event of a difficult extrication.

Crews arrived on scene and began a rapid extrication of the patient with the Whitman Ambulance treating the patient. Upon successful extrication of the patient, all Brockton units were cancelled.

Extrication tools were utilized during the incident, including but not limited to high pressure airbags to lift large and heavy objects.

The approximately 60-year-old male patient was transported by Boston MedFlight with life threatening injuries to a Level 1 Trauma Center.
