6 hurt, 2 with life-threatening injuries, in serious 5 vehicle crash on I-95
ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott Lachance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department responded to a serious, multi-vehicle crash on I-95 Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 5 p.m. Attleboro Fire received multiple reports of a serious crash on I-95, just before exit three, involving multiple vehicles. Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders found that there were five motor vehicles involved in the crash, including four sedans and one pick-up truck.
A four door sedan had sustained serious damage in the crash and its two occupants, a man and a woman, were entrapped and had suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. Attleboro Fire used hydraulic equipment to extricate them both, and they were each taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.
The driver of the pick-up truck, a man, and three women in the remaining involved sedans, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, and were taken by ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
I-95 was closed for approximately 45 minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.
The incident is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
